Introduction Post

Hello Everyone!

Many of you probably know me, however for those of you that don't my name is Kathlene Katic and I am a J/I Teacher Candidate at Brock University. Many of my students know me for this saying, however, I thought it would be a great way to start my intro post, "Life is too short to be too serious"; while I a hard working, dedicated individual, I believe it is important to not get too busy and forget to enjoy life and the simple joys it has to offer.

My first love is coffee, even if that is the only simple joy I have in my busy schedule, it is something that I truly cherish. I love sports, festivals, anything to do with getting active outside, and of course my dogs; they made the most out of the massive snow storm that we had in Burlington on Tuesday! Additionally, a huge component of my identity is the fact that I am an emerging educator, and my pedagogy and philosophy on education is apparent once people get to know me. I believe that all students can succeed as long as they are provided with the tools they need to do so, including dedication on my behalf to foster a classroom environment of inclusivity, caring and respect.

As a requirement of my Social Studies class at Brock University, stay tuned for more blog posts about Innovative Social Studies Unit/Lesson Plans, as well as engaging conversations about relevant topics through Brock's online forum.

As the old saying goes about March, In like a Lion out like a Lamb, I can only hope this is true! Stay warm everyone, here's hoping the beautiful weather arrives soon!
